Essence THE FALSE LASHES Extreme Volume & Curl Mascara Review

On this sunny Monday I wanted to share an in-depth review of the Essence The False Lashes Extreme Volume & Curl mascara, which includes loads of product flatlays and a 7 hour wear-test. To be honest, I thought this was the Essence mascara many YouTubers are raving about. Of course, I was mistaken, and the one everyone’s talking about is the Essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara. Guess I’ll have to try that next!

In the past I’d used another version of this mascara, The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Unlimited. If memory serves me well, it gave me less length and volume than the one we’re looking at today, so I’m pretty excited to chat about this product.

Essence The False Lashes Extreme Volume & Curl Mascara

Extra volume, extra curl! Our super innovative curl fiber brush ensures maximum volume and curved lashes with a false lash look.

How to use it?

Starting at the base of the lash line, wiggle wand back and forth, adding as many coats as you like until desired length and volume is achieved.

INGREDIENTS

AQUA (WATER), PARAFFIN, GLYCERYL STEARATE, SYNTHETIC BEESWAX, STEARIC ACID, ACACIA SENEGAL GUM, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PALMITIC ACID, POLYBUTENE, ORYZA SATIVA (RICE) BRAN WAX, VP/EICOSENE COPOLYMER, OZOKERITE, AMINOMETHYL PROPANOL, TROPOLONE, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, STEARYL STEARATE, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, PHENOXYETHANOL, CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES).

• The product is vegan, paraben-free, and cruelty-free!
• Nice, creamy formula, not too wet or dry. Works better after being open for a week or so, though!
• Curved natural bristle brush, my personal favourite!
  
• Dries down within minutes after application. I don’t recommend squinting right after application, though you can blink and move your eyes without smudging mascara everywhere.
• Unscented formula! I’ve had some mascaras that smelt like the bottom of a rubbish bin, and I’m really happy this one has no scent!
• Enchances and holds the natural curve of my lashes.
  
• Can be layered, even after it has completely dried down! Don’t do more than two layers, though, as your lashes will turn into a clumpy, spidery mess.
• The mascara doesn’t smudge around as you’re applying it. If it does, wait until the smudgy bit is dry and scrape it off with a clean makeup brush, or a cotton bud.
• Lasts on the eyes until you take it off, though there might be some crumbs around your eyes.
• Has survived a naptime or two. Basically, you could tell I had been sleeping, but I could quickly salvage the look and leave the house!
• It’s not waterproof or smudge-proof, however, it won’t ruin your makeup if you have a quick cry. Don’t rub your eyes, though, it’ll crumble around like crazy!
• To be honest, it does give a false lash effect, albeit a natural one.

• Gives a spider leg effect to the eyes. Some days I love it, while other times I find it too clumpy and hard to fix! (In the photos it looks a lot less clumpy than it did in real life.)
• The brush picks up too much product, and I find it difficult to apply.
  
• Often makes the lashes very lumpy, and sticks them together into a few massive, gunky lash clusters.
  
• Throughout the day some of the product crumbles and gets all over my face. Sometimes it gets inside my eyes, too!
