REVOLUTION Reloaded Newtrals 2 Review + sexy red eyelook tutorial!

With Valentine’s day just around the corner, I wanted to review Revolution’s Reloaded Newtrals 2 palette and share a sexy red eyeshadow look that I created with this product!

The palette contains 15 shades of reds and neutrals in four different formulas.
Revolution’s Reloaded line offers a wide variety of colour combinations to all eyeshadow users for a rather small price. The palette I bought is the Reloaded Newtrals 2, is filled with mostly red shades, though there are a few brown and pink shades, too. Of all the palettes available in Latvian drugstores, I liked this one the most because I wanted to expand the amount of red eyeshadows I own. (Scroll down to read my thoughts on the shades and the eyeshadow formulas!)
The eyeshadows are glued in a sturdy plastic palette that has a clear lid and enough space between shades to prevent the powders from mixing up. The palette has survived a fall to tiled floor without a scratch, though I’m afraid that over time the lid will break off at the hinges.
In my opinion, the Reloaded Newtrals 2 palette offers a decent selection of red eyeshadows for those who want to try this particular shade.
The colour variety isn’t great so it may get difficult to create a multitude of different looks. However, the product works great as an addition to any neutral palettes you might already have in your collection.
Let’s talk about the downsides of this product.
Several shades look nearly identical, and most of them fit inside the mid-tone category. I would’ve preferred having one shade in several different formulas, which is what they did with the two peach colours in this palette.
I also would’ve loved having a larger selection of light and dark tones. I’ve tried creating smoky looks, but I always felt the need to reach for other palettes to deepen the outer V. Thing is, the deepest shade in this palette is only a few shades darker than the mid-tone colours!
Another minus is the fact that all but two eyeshadows are marked as pressed pigments, which means that for some people these shades may stain the eyelids or cause irritation. (The two eye-safe shades are the matte beige and the metallic dark red.) I haven’t had any issues after using this product, though I’d recommend looking for any negative reactions after the first few uses just to be safe.
RELOADED NEWTRALS 2 PALETTE SWATCHES & SHADE BREAKDOWN
Hopefully you can see what I mean by the shades looking too similar! The pink and cocoa duos are the cool-toned and warm-toned versions of one shade, and they look the same once they’ve been applied. I would prefer two shades in different formulas, like a matte and a metallic shimmer, which is what they did here with the peach shades.
All but one of the shades in this palette are highly pigmented with a smooth formula. The colours blend well without disappearing, all of the shades can be reapplied as necessary, and the formula is smooth and not chalky. The eyeshadows are a bit dusty, so be aware of any powder fallout on your cheeks!
The mattes are significantly easier to blend, while the shiny eyeshadows stick to the eyelid just a little better. However, some of the shades blend together in a way where you can’t tell a difference between them.
The only shade that was disappointing is the grape shimmer next to the rosegold. It has the formula as the shimmery metallics but it’s not as shiny, pigmented, or easy to apply as other shades. It could look interesting on a dark base or as the sole eyelid shade, but I can’t see myself reaching for it too often.
From left to right: peachy shimmer, warm-toned dark pink satin, matte cool-toned cocoa, cool-toned dark pink satin, and a matte wine shade.
My personal favourites from this row are the peach shimmer and rich wine eyeshadows!
From left to right: matte beige, matte warm-toned cocoa, rosegold metallic, grape shimmer, and matte orange red.
I absolutely love the rosegold metallic, though the brown shades are also great. For me, the matte beige works well as an undereye powder, but it is not light enough to highlight the brow bone. That being said, this shade of beige is more universal than other shades they could’ve made, so I’m not complaining!
From left to right: metallic dark red, metallic pink champagne, matte milk chocolate, matte peach, and dark matte pink.
All of the shades in this row are amazing, but the basic part of my soul loves the three middle shades the most. Just look at the pink champagne shade! Isn’t it gorgeous?…
✨ a look using RELOADED NEWTRALS 2 palette ✨
As always, I like to show any eyeshadows I review in action by adding a simple makeup tutorial. For this look I managed to use more than half of the palette, and I hope that this look will help you decide whether you want this palette yourself, too!
Products used:
- H&M LE Tuscan Escape eyeshadow palette (to fill in brows)
- Essence Correct to Perfect CC Concealer palette (as eyeshadow base and to clean up the skin around my brows)
- Revolution Reloaded Newtrals 2 shadow palette
- Wycon Ink Liner
- random black pencil eyeliner
- Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect mascara
- Brushes used: a dense blending brush, a small barrel brush, and an angled liner/brow brush.
1. I started out by filling in my brows and “carving” them with concealer, and applying my face makeup.
After that was done, I used shade nr.1 to set in place the concealer underneath my eyes and brows.
2. I picked up shade nr.2 using a dense blending brush, and applied it above my eye socket. I blended it in the direction of my eyebrows using the same brush and shade nr.3.
3. Next, I took a small barrel brush, dipped it into shade nr.4 and applied it on the inner and outer parts of the eyelids. (For now, I left the midde of the lid bare.) I used the same dense blending brush with no extra product to blend the deep wine shade in the crease, ensuring that the fade between the crease and lid shades is even.
4. I wanted to create soft halo eyes, so I packed shade nr.5 on both sides of the bare part of the lid using a pencil brush.
I left the middle of the lid empty for shade nr.6, which I applied after I was satisfied with the way the darker shimmer looked. To add some extra shine, I dipped a small detail brush in shade nr.7 and gently patted it on top of the rosegold shimmer, as well as on my inner corners and beneath my eyebrows.
5. The upper lid was too dark to leave the lower lash line bare, so I darkened it by applying black pencil liner in the waterline. Afterwards I used an angled brush dipped in shade nr.8 to blend the black pencil down towards my bottom lash line.
6. I finished the look by applying winged liner and a few coats of mascara to both top and bottom eyelashes. You can also glue on fake lashes, but I was too lazy to do that!

That look is very pretty!
You’re quite brave, buying such a monocromatic palette. I love red eyeshadow too, but when I tried to use a palette like this I always felt that every look turned out exactly the same.
I’m happy you liked this look!
I wouldn’t exactly call myself brave, but I’ll accept the compliment. 🙂 What you said is true, it is hard to create unique looks. However, I find that this palette pairs up nicely with other eyeshadows in my collection, and I’m far less tempted by other products now that I have a wide variety of one of my favourite makeup colours.
(That being said, I personally wouldn’t buy a green, blue, or purple palette, as I would never use it!)
