LOTS OF PROGRESS // 3 in 1 Challenge Update #5
Hey!
Today I wanted to update you on my year-long reading and makeup challenge, and I have lots of progress to share with y’all. I’ve hit and extended several pans, read a book, and gotten close to finishing up more than one products, but you can read all about that by scrolling down this post.
If you like the photos you see on my blog, check out my Instagram @xocaligo! I post mainly makeup looks and lifestyle photos, though I like to share some nature shots and cat photos, too.
PROJECT PAN 2021
I’ve made lots of progress in using up these powders and I can’t wait to see how much product I’ll be able to use up during November.
EssenceΒ Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder in 02 sunny
70g β 69g
I haven’t used this bronzer more than a few times, but I plan to use it more often once the blush is gone.
RevolutionΒ Skin Kiss Highlighter in Ice Kiss
70gΒ β 68g
The waffle pattern of the pan makes me happy everytime I see it, and I’d love to extend the pan to the very side of the product. I don’t have any particular goals for next month, though.
CatriceΒ Absolute Eye Colour in 420 Talk Like An Egyptian
22gΒ β 21gΒ
I met my last month’s goal of using up product from the sides of the pan, and my next goal is to use up half of what’s left!
CatriceΒ Defining Blush in 080 Sunrose Avenue
35gΒ β 34g
I didn’t use up this blush, however, I could be done with it by the end of November! I use A LOT of blush every time I do my makeup, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to finish it off.
turquoise and black pencil eyeliners
t. 50mm β 45mm // b. 65mm β 35mm
The turquoise pencil will last me another month or so, while the black pencil should be done in about 3-5 uses because soon I won’t be able to sharpen it.
bronze cream eyeshadow stick
19mm β 5 mm
I used this pencil so much I only have 5 millimeters of product left. I’d love to use it up within the next two weeks!
Catrice Prime and Fine Lightening Make Up Transformer Drops
10g β 6g
As you can see, I have very little product left inside the jar. It has dried up a bit and makes a great eyeshadow base, and I should be able to use it up before the next update!
Rimmel London Salon Pro nail polish Get a Nail Tan
19mm β 16mm
I completely forgot about the nail polish when I was taking these pictures, though it’s not a huge problem since I haven’t used it even once. As you can tell by the image, I have recently started to paint my nails, however, I haven’t been in a mood for a nude so there’s no progress to share today.
PAN THAT PALETTE
Last month I made lots of progress and I absolutely love looking at the shades I’ve panned! I can’t wait to use this palette during November, though I doubt I’ll be able to use up any eyeshadow besides the matte cream.
H&M LE Tuscan Escape Shadow Palette
262g β 259g
I’ve made lots of progress in using up this palette, since last month I hit pan in three more shades: the matte caramel, the dark red metallic and the bronze shimmer next to it. I also extended the pans I hit previously, so much so that the matte cream is almost done! I must say, these eyeshadows are hard to pan but easy to use up once you’ve actually panned them.
My goals for next month are to extend pan in the panned eyeshadows, hit pan in at least one more eyeshadow, and fully use up the matte cream. I’ve decided that once the challenge ends I will give this palette to my mum because I use only 8 shadows from the 20 shades available. I will miss the huge mirror, however, my mum will enjoy the rest of the palette more than I do!
BOOK A MONTH
The reviews of Memoirs of a Geisha andThe Infernal Devices trilogy are still coming, don’t worry! I just haven’t had the time or mental energy to pull together my thoughts and write them. π
The book I’ll focus on during November is Gothic Short Stories, which contains a multitude of different authors’ short horror stories.
So far I’ve read two or three of them, but I can’t yet say which is my favourite. If I finish reading this book, I will share my thoughts on it in the next post since I don’t think it requires a separate book review.
I’ll also continue reading Agnes Grey by Anne BrontΓ«, The Princess Bride by William Goldman, #girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, and A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. I can’t say I’ve gotten too far in each book, though I like having the variety of different genres and storylines within an arm’s reach.
OCTOBER READS
In October I finished reading The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, and I feel myself falling in love with young adult books again! Magnus Bane is one of my favourite fictional characters, and I will probably pick up the first books from Cassandra Clare’s The Eldest Curses and The Last Hours series within the next few months. Have you read either of these books?
I haven’t yet finished any other book besides that, however, I have started reading Agnes Grey and Gothic Short Stories. I’m also rereading #girlboss and it’s honestly not THAT bad, though it is a tad cringy. (I bought it before #girlboss was considered cringe and the “gaslight-gatekeep-girlboss” meme didn’t yet exist. Don’t judge me!) I have yet to start reading A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens; my November goal is to get past the first few chapters so that I can properly judge the book and its contents.
I didn’t get around to sharing any book reviews because other things consumed my time during October. I’ll try to share them the upcoming month, and I can’t wait to chat about TID series!
#QOTD: What is your preferred book-to-text ratio? Did you like the photos I shared in this post? I’m currently working on revamping my blog, so I’d love to hear your feedback now more than ever!
Until later,

Your writing style is truly engaging.
Wow, you did make a lot of progress. I think by the end of the year you will be able to finish quite a few products.
How do you even use the blush? I mean how do you get the brush in there to pick up the product? It looks like it’s getting increasingly difficult ππ
I think you’re picture to text ratio is great, thank you for the close ups especially, it makes it a lot easier to see the differences month to month.
The only thing I would like to read a little more about is how did your opinion change about a product after using it for a long time. Like you did it with the eyeshadow palette.
Thank you so much, I think so too!
I use a smaller blush brush and squish its bristles, then sort of push the bristles in the product in a sideways motion. I usually apply blush on the tops of my cheekbones where my hairline starts, then blend it down where I want it to be, so I’m able to use quite a lot of product every time I do my makeup. (If you’re interested, I could share a more detail description of my blush application techniques in a future post!)
Also, thanks for the feedback, I’ll try sharing more photos and my thoughts on products in all future posts! π
Yes, thank you, I would definitely be interested in your blush application
Great, I’ll add that to my list of future posts! π
