MAKEUP & READING STATS 2021 // 3 in 1 Challenge Finale

Hey!

Welcome to my second year-long Project Pan challenge finale! This time I tried to use up or pan nine products, hit pan in a large palette and read at least one book per month. See how I did by scrolling below! 🙂

If you like my blog photography, check out my Instagram @xocaligo – sometimes I share nature and cat photos, but the main things I focus on are makeup and lifestyle photos.

PROJECT PAN 2021 CHALLENGE FINALE

I’m proud of the progress I made during this challenge. Sure, I could’ve used up more product than I did. But I still managed to use up five out of the nine products I had in this challenge! (The wooden pencils count as one, just like both of tubed products counted as one.) I also hit major pan in a highlighter – it’s one of the toughest things to do as a makeup user!

Essence Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder in 02 sunny

70g ⇒ 69g

I have used this bronzer a few times since the last update, and I slightly evened out the decorative pattern of the powder. It’s not the best bronzer I’ve used: it often looks patchy if applied on bare skin, and the shade is almost too light for my ghostly white skin tone. (And it’s the deepest shade they offer!)

Will I keep it?

Yes, I like it well enough to keep it in my collection, at least for now.

Revolution Skin Kiss Highlighter in Ice Kiss

70g ⇒ 67g

I barely extended the pan, though I’m pleased with my current results as highlighters are notoriously hard to pan. It’s a pretty good highlighter and eyeshadow topper – it looks great on darker or bolder shades since it lightens them up and makes them extra shiny.

Will I keep it?

Yes, I love it!

Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 420 Talk Like An Egyptian

22g ⇒ 21g

As much as I would’ve loved to use it up, I’m happy with my current results. This eyeshadow is more like a glittery topper that looks wonderful on darker eyeshadows; if I were a party girl, I would use it as a highlighter, too!

Will I keep it?

Maybe – I’ll try using it throughout January and decide what to do with it afterwards.

Catrice Defining Blush in 080 Sunrose Avenue

35g ⇒ DONE!

The leftover blush broke away from the pan, so I smashed it up. I tried using it a few times; it didn’t work, so I added the leftover product to my Frankenpowder. (It’s a mix of different powders and eyeshadows in a loose powder container that I like to set my makeup with.) I loved this shade, but I’m ready to move on to other products.

turquoise and black pencil eyeliners

t. 50mm ⇒ 42mm // b. 65mm ⇒ 31mm

I didn’t use up either of the pencils, but I did use up an additional 3 mm of the turquoise one and 4 mm of the black one. I love to use pencil liners as they are easier to apply than liquid or gel ones. I’m on the lookout for a good black or dark brown pencil liner; do you have any suggestions?

Will I keep them?

Yes, until I use them both up.

bronze cream eyeshadow stick

19mm ⇒ 5 mm ⇒ DONE!

I finally used up the whole eyeshadow stick! Now I can focus on other eyeshadow bases I have at my disposal. Overall, I think I will buy another eyeshadow stick in the future. Do you like cream eyeshadows?

Catrice Prime and Fine Lightening Make Up Transformer Drops

10g ⇒ 6g ⇒ DONE!

I’ve grown to love using foundation lighteners to adjust the shade of my concealer and foundation. Using them also allows me to use some products, which I otherwise would have no use for, like concealers that are too dark or colour correctors!

Rimmel London Salon Pro nail polish Get a Nail Tan

19mm ⇒ 12mm

Nail polishes are hard to use up, mainly because I like to change my nail colour every week. I love the colour of this nail polish, but I don’t wear nude nails all the time. In fact, I love experimenting with shades of red, blue and green nail polish.

Will I keep it?

Yes, until I use it up!

PAN THAT PALETTE CHALLENGE FINALE

The palette I chose to finish in 2021 was challenging, mainly because the eyeshadows are very tightly packed and pigmented. Sure, there’s quite a lot of fallout and powder kickback, but it didn’t help whatsoever.

Another aspect that prevented me from using up more was simple. Last year I didn’t use makeup nearly as often as I’d usually do! But I’m still happy about the progress I made; having any progress is better than having none.

H&M LE Tuscan Escape Shadow Palette

262g ⇒ 257g

I made quite a bit of progress, so I’m happy with my results. There were quite a few shades I didn’t use whatsoever, like most of the bottom row and the far right side, and almost all brown-ish shimmers.

After scouring through my eyeshadow collection, I have decided to continue using the beige, both cool-toned matte pink and taupe until they’re done, then give the palette to my mum. She doesn’t really use makeup anyways and only does her brows, so she’s not offended about this! 😀

Honestly, I was surprised to see that I don’t have many beige, light matte pink and taupe shades in my collection! Besides, these are very powdery, but they blend out beautifully and provide a good base for near any eye look I love.

Will I keep it?

Yes, until I use up the matte beige, cool-toned pink and taupe shades. I’d like to finish the warm matte pink, but that’s only an additional goal.

BOOK A MONTH

Compared to other years, in 2021, I read more than before, and I discovered quite a few gems I’d recommend to anyone willing to listen. I will try my best to share a more in-depth list of the books I read sometime this week!

In 2021 I read 15 books from cover to cover (aka 7078 pages of writing) and started a few more books that I’ll need to finish this year.

Some fo the books I loved are Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare – I’d recommend them to pretty much any person, though the stories are quite different.

I will continue reading in 2022, except my goals will be larger than before. I would love to buy a few more books this year, like the new Cassandra Clare book series, as well as read some more books in my native language, Latvian. (Currently, I love the YA and horror genres, with some classics sprinkled in here and there. Can you relate?)

#QOTD: How many products did you pan in 2021, and how many books did you read last year? What do you think about my challenge finale? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Until later,

  1. Wow, you finished a lot of makeup items. Congrats on finishing the blush!

And congrats on the books too, that’s a lot of pages. It never occured to me to count them, but maybe I should try it one year.

I finished a concealer, a powder and 2 bronzers, so I consider it as a succesful year of panning too.

This year is going to be interesting for me make up-wise, because I changed my hair color (first time ever 😄) and now I have red hair. I will have to play around and figure out what colors look good on me now. I think I will have to put away my favorite lavender blush for a while.

    • Thank you so much!
And thank you for visiting my blog even after I took such a long break, it really means a lot to me. 💕

I think you did an awesome job, finishing a powder is hard by itself, but finishing up 2 whole bronzers is soo difficult!
Also, congrats on your hair change! 💕 I definitely suggest playing around with makeup to see what fits and what doesn’t. One oldschool-type YouTuber I used to watch, Hollie Forrest, has bright red hair so I suggest checking out her channel for some makeup inspo! 💕 Link to her channel:
