JANUARY RESULTS // 2020 VISION Project Pan

Hey!

Today I’m here to share my January results, and boy oh boy, is there a lot to share. Last month I hit pan in several powders, emptied out some perfume samples, and nearly used up other things! Isn’t that exciting?

If you like beauty content, follow my Instagram @xocaligo! I post about beauty and cats whenever I feel like something’s worth posting, though I am trying to be better about it. 😀

Essence Million Nude Faces #beYOUtiful palette

Goals: use up half of the palette, and pan every shade.

48g • 46g

As you can probably tell, I mostly used the lightest matte shades. I also dipped into the rosegold shimmer and the other taupe, but that’s about it!

Technic Nudes Eyeshadows

Goal: use up the three lightest shadows.

34g • 32g

Last month I used the lightest shade as highlighter and it looked nice; I’ll probably continue doing so until it’s done. As for the caramel colour, I found it works great for single-shadow looks, or as a barely noticeable crease shade!

Catrice LE ViennART Baked Eyeshadow C03 Lovely Lace

Goal: hit pan.

18g

Even though I barely reached for this eyeshadow during January, I used enough to make a visual difference. I’m pretty sure I could hit pan in a few months if I was more dedicated to using it!

Catrice Velvet Matt Eyeshadow 060 Moss Wanted Colour

Goal: create a massive dip in the middle.

20g

I love blending this shadow all over my top and bottom lids for single-shadow looks. Of course, everytime I do that I look like a sad VSCO girl, or a grungy art student! 😀

Flormar Eyeliner 113

Goal: use it up.

2g / 50mm • 2g / 49mm

I didn’t use it even once. Hopefully I’ll reach for it more this month!

Golden Rose Eyeliner 305

Goal: use it up.

4g / 94mm 4g / 89mm

One of my favourite YouTubers, Jessica Braun (Jessica Braun | JAMbeauty89) always looks so youthful and glowy, and I wanted to try doing my makeup her way. I’ve mostly adopted her liner routine, which usually includes running a gel liner along the lashline; instead, I’ve been using this pencil and it works really well. Now my eyes look softer, prettier, and I can get ready in ~20 minutes!

Rival de Loop Liquid Eye Liner 02 Brown

Goal: finish it off.

14g

I don’t like its formula, pigmentation, finish, or lasting power at all. It cracks and crumbles around, and my lids feel heavy every time I wear it! Plus, the product isn’t old or expired, it behaved this way from the start.

Rival de Loop Eyebrow Pen 02 Brown

Goal: use it up.

4g / 75mm • 4g / 70mm

I use this pencil on days when I’m not completely sure if I’ll have to leave the house. The colour is too red for my liking, and it’s a tad difficult to apply if it’s not freshly sharpened.

Essence Make Me Brow 02 Browny Brows

Goal: finish it off.

6g

Even though I have to scrape inside the tube to get any product on the spoolie, there’s still some of it left inside!

Eylure Brow Luminizer highlight pencil

Goal: finish it off.

10g / 112mm • 10g / 110mm

I barely used this product as I don’t have a sharpener for it. Guess I’ll have to get one soon!

RdeL Young Eyebrow Pomade 01 Soft Brown

Goal: use up 1/3 of what’s inside the pot.

46g

I’ve started to focus on one little corner, as opposed to the willy-nilly dabbing I did before. So far I’ve created a tiny crater on the side, and a noticeable dip in the middle!

Maybelline New York Baby Lips LE Mint Candy

Goal: use it up.

12g / 25mm

I’ll have to keep it on my bedside table, as I only reached for it twice!

Revolution Iconic Matte Nude Lipstick in Wishful

Goal: use it up.

14g / 23mm • 14g / 22mm

I wore this lipstick a lot, and I’m surprised I used up so little! Then again, it might have something to do with the way I apply it; now the lipstick looks more slanted than before.

Revolution Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette Light-Medium

Goal: use up any four concealers.

146g

I’m nearly done with the panned concealer, and soon I’ll move on to a different shade.

Technic Colour Fix Pressed Powder Contour Palette

Goal: use up all powders.

116g • 114g

During January I came so close to using up the remaining powders! Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy about the progress, I just wish I could’ve finished at least one of them.

Rival de Loop Bronzing Powder 01 Salted Caramel

Goal: hit pan.

44g • 42g

It’s a very light bronzer; in fact, if I had tanned skin, I could use it as face powder. That being said, it works well for my winter skin tone, and I like how its colour complements other Project Pan items.

Essence Silky Touch Blush 90 Summer Dreaming

Goal: finish it off!

18g • 12g

Once this blush is done, should I replace it with a different blush? Leave your thoughts below! (I’m leaning towards replacing it with a similarly-pigmented blush.)

  •
Introduction.

Catrice Nude Illusion Transparent Loose Powder

Goal: use it up.

44g • 42g

I don’t feel the need to use powder on an everyday basis, so I’m happy with my January results.

Ekél Charcoal Peel Off Pack

Goal: finish it up.

172g

I didn’t use this mask even once! How bad is that?!

25 different perfume & cologne samples

Goal: use them all up.

92g • 80g

I used up four samples: Tsun Lai and Northern Lights EDT’s by Oriflame, Skin EDP by Trussardi, and Private Edition EDT by Gabriela Sabatini. Even though the full-sizes have been discontinued, their samples worked perfectly fine and I had fun trying different scents!

I still have 21 perfume samples to go through, most of them being half-empty. Some of the samples are men’s aftershaves/colognes, but that doesn’t stop me from using them; who cares if I smell like an old guy going on a Sunday date?

“Tsun Lai is a fragrance of exotic flowers that begins with fresh lemon zest and fruit blossoms. Chinese jasmine, ylang-ylang and pink lotus are in the heart, placed on a base of sandalwood, incense and vanilla.”

I didn’t smell much of vanilla or anything else besides spring flowers, though there were some hints of sandalwood. Truth be told, I rarely gravitate towards jasmine and incense aromas, but I really enjoyed the way Tsun Lai smelled.

Top notes: lemon, marine accords, black currant and grapefruit. Heart: jasmine, lily, green notes, violet leaf, geranium, cyclamen, and apricot. Base: amber, white musk, patchouli and raspberries.

Northern Lights is the scent of my childhood, as my mum used to wear it every day to work. This perfume is very strong, clean and floral, with some hints of warmth and masculinity. It was too strong for me, but there are people like my mum who suit it much better!

The beginning is unusual, composed of ingredients which are all fresh in their special way: violet leaves, apple, pink pepper and lemon. A thin floral harmony in the heart (lily of the valley, rose and jasmine) develop into woody, sharp notes of rosewood, cedar, patchouli and moss.

Trussardi Skin was my least favourite scent, as I felt it lacked some depth and richness. The mix of fresh, sweet, and citrusy scents with a hint of powder was pleasant enough, but it wasn’t as good as the other samples I finished.

Private Edition by Gabriela Sabatini is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. Top notes are pineapple, melon and mandarin orange; middle notes are violet, jasmine and lily-of-the-valley; base notes are sandalwood, patchouli and white musk.

The Private Edition by Gabriela Sabatini feels a little powdery (in the best way possible), and it also has those tangy, citrus-like notes. I can’t say I feel the strong spring flowers, but I definitely felt some sandalwood. I’d love to find a similar scent for sure!

I am very pleased with my January results, as I used up ~28g of product! Twelve grams came from the perfume samples, and most of the others were face powders and eyeshadows. I hope to use up as much, if not more, in February!
